Merak increases its defense against Spammers

Merak Email Server introduces yet another way to help defend your system from Spam Attacks.

Some spam servers deal with being blocked by issuing an RSET command and restarting the message transmission. This can use up valuable bandwidth and server resources.

As part of it's Intrusion Prevention settings Merak can now be set to monitor sessions for RSET commands. Any RSET command detected will increment an internal counter, if this counter reaches a predefined threshhold then the server's IP address is instantly blocked and the connection terminated.

The length of time that the IP address is blocked for is also set within Intrusion Prevention settings
